There are several diet plans which aim for you to lose a certain amount of weight, by a certain time.

But attempting to lose weight fast isn’t always the best option, according to experts at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr Andrew Jagim, director of sports medicine research at Mayo Clinic Health System, told Daily Star Online: “Often people like to look for a quick fix and seek strategies that deliver rapid results.”

But it doesn’t mean they will actually burn fat, and it is more likely to be the “result of acute water loss”.

Don't fall for quick-fix diets: Losing weight fast might sound tempting, but it's not always the best option. Rapid weight-loss fixes often require very low-calorie diets or extended periods of fasting, which can be difficult to maintain long-term or even dangerous.

Choose a diet that fits your lifestyle: The best way to lose weight is to find a diet that is sustainable, fits in with your lifestyle, and reduces daily calorie intake. For example, intermittent fasting can work for some people as it creates simple rules for people to follow, but it won't work for everyone.

Focus on healthy eating habits: Instead of obsessing over fad diets, focus on eating a well-balanced diet that allows for proper portion sizes, includes all the food groups, and minimal processed foods.

Be patient: Losing weight is a journey, not a destination. Don't expect overnight results or a quick fix. Sustainable weight loss requires patience, consistency, and dedication.
